SSC CGL 2017 Age Limit and Age Relaxation

Confused Over Age Criteria for CGL 2017 Exam. Here is the Detailed Explanation of Exact Age Limit and Age Relaxation for CGL 2017 Exam.

If, you are at this page, then chances are that you are interested and willing to apply for SSC CGL 2017 Exam, You, all know, that SSC CGL 2017 Exam dates have been announced, and the Good news is SSC CGL Notification, will be announced on 11th March, 2017. Before, you apply for CGL 2017 Exam, it is advisable, that make sure, you fulfill the Eligibility conditions for CGL Exam

As the SSC CGL 2017 Notification, will be announced on 11th March, 2017 and exact eligibility conditions, will be known only after that. However, SSC had released a Short Notice regarding Crucial Date for SSC CGL 2017 Exam. As per the Notification, the cut off date for Determining the Eligibility Criteria for CGL 2017 Exam is 1st August, 2017.

Here Eligibility criteria, refers to Age Limit Criteria and possessing the Requisite Education Qualification.

That means, only those who Fall within the prescribed Age Limit for CGL Exam, and those, who have completed their Graduation before 1st August, 2017, can apply for CGL 2017 Exam.

How SSC Crucial /Cut off Date is Calculated ?

Well, you can skip, this, but it if, you want to know, that How SSC Determines the Crucial Date Or Cut off Date for various exam, then you should read this.

1) Before, 2015, Cut off date for CGL Exam is calculated (AS on 1st January), of the respective years Notification. 

Example: For 2014 CGL Exam , the Cut off Date is 1st, January, 2014

2) But, after 2015, SSC had made some big changes in determining the cut off Date.

Now, the Cut off Date is calculated, as per the schedule of Mains / Tier-2 Exam. As the CGL Tier-2 Exam is scheduled in August, 2017, therefore the Cut off / Crucial Date is 1st August, 2017

The rules, have been amended after the New Guidelines and Instructions from the Department of Personnel Training (DOPT), PMO Office

What is the Age Limit to Apply for CGL 2017 Exam ?

CGL Exam is conducted for more than 26 category of different Group B and C posts, in Central Government Departments and Ministries. and there is requirement of  people having different Age Limits.

Example : To apply for Sub-Inspector post in Central Bureau of Narcotics, the prescribed age limit is 18 to 25 years, while upper Age limit for Sub-Inspector in National Investigation Agency (NIA) is 30 years.

That means, there is Age variation in various CGL posts and depends on the Job Profile. For some posts, there is requirement of young and Dynamic People, while for other posts, Experienced and more matured people are needed. 

But for the bulk of posts, the prescribed Age Limit is 18 to 27 years.

Documents in Support of Age Proof.

While, there are many documents, that can be used for Age Identification Like Pan Card, Voter Card etc. But SSC only accepts, Matriculation Diploma, as the Age Proof. While, applying for CGL 2017 Exam, make sure, you enter your Original Date of Birth , as recorded in the Matriculation / Secondary Examination Certificate.

Who is Eligible for Age Relaxation in CGL 2017 Exam ?

Government of India, gives Age relaxation to those who belong to different category of people and to other special category of people Like Ex-Serviceman, Divorcee Woman, People from disturbed areas etc 

It is worth mentioning here that Relaxation is provided only in Upper age Limit. The Date of Reckoning for claiming the Age limit is 1st August, 2017.

It is worth mentioning here that only Ex-Servicemen are eligible to claim for Age-Relaxation and not their sons, Daughters and other dependents.

Updates ?

As, the CGL 2017 Notification is yet to be announced. So the exact Age limit criteria will be known only after the announcement of that. But SSC through a Notification uploaded on its website, has clearly explained that Crucial Date for Reckoning the Eligibility criteria is 1st August, 2017
