SSC CGL 2017 Dates have been announced, and now the aspirants are waiting for the announcement of CGL Notification. It is expected that the Notification for CGL 2017 will be announced on 11th March, 2017 and soon after that Online Registration, begins. It is worth mentioning here that SSC had started the One Time Registration Process for all SSC Exams. To know, the exact process of SSC CGL Online Registration, you can read our previous post SSC CGL 2017 Online Application, where, we have discussed in detail, regarding the Registration process for CGL Exam.

The next big thing, you would like to know the Eligibility criteria for CGL 2017 Exam and possible changes in the Age Limit conditions. Well the good news is that, SSC had already uploaded a Notification on its website, that the Crucial Date for Determining the Age Limit for CGL 2017 Exam is 1st August, 2017. The Notification, clearly mentions, that as per the DOPT's instructions, cut off Date for all SSC Exams, should be as per the Schedule of Mains/Tier-2 of Exam. As the CGL Tier-2 Exam is to be held in August, 2016, and such commission had fixed 1st August 2016 as the Cut off Date.

As, In the CGL Exam, we have different Categories of Posts, having different Pay-Scales, therefore the Eligibility criteria for various CGL posts differs. While for most of the posts, Eligibility criteria is 18-27 years with Graduation. But for some of the posts, there is different Eligibility criteria. In case, there is a change in Eligibility criteria, it will be only for Age Limit, Graduation as Basic Qualification will stay as there is No change in Qualification criteria in the CGL Exam over the years.

In this post, we will discuss the Post wise Eligibility criteria for CGL 2017 Exam. We will also discuss the upcoming changes in the Age Limit criteria and also the updates on the upcoming CGL 2017 Notification.


Who is Eligible for CGL 2017 Exam ?


Applicants, willing to apply and appear in the CGL-2017 Exam should full fill the Eligibility conditions as mentioned in the CGL 2017 Notification.

As the CGL 2017 Notification will be released on  11th March, 2017, therefore the exact Eligibility criteria, will be known after that, but the below given eligibility criteria is based on the CGL Notifications of previous years.



(I) Nationality 


Applicants, willing to apply for the CGL 2017 Exam, must be of Indian Origin. Apart from this, subjects of below mentioned countries can also apply, provided that have been issued Certificate of Eligibility by the Government of India.

A candidate must either be.






(II) Educational Qualifications


Applicants, willing to apply for CGL 2017 Exam, should full fill the below mentioned post wise Eligibility conditions for various CGL Posts

The Crucial Date for determining the Qualification criteria is 1st August, 2017. So, Remember, you should have obtained relevant Degree / Certificates, prior to that date

Basic Qualification: The Basic Qualification for CGL Exam in only Graduation. But some of the posts, you may need an additional qualification as given below.

1) Statistical Investigator: It is a Group B post in the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation. For Statistical Investigator, you should have



  • Degree in any subject with 60% Marks in Maths at 10+2 Level OR
  • Graduation in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
2) Compiler : It is a Group C post in Registrar General of India. . To apply for Compiler post, you should have
  • Degree in any discipline with Statistics, OR Mathematics Or Economics, as the compulsory or elective subject at Degree level.
3) Assistant Audit Officer(AAO): The basic Qualification for Assistant Audit Officer is Graduation Only. But SSC had prescribed some Desirable Qualification for this post, given as under

  • Chartered Accountant OR Cost and Management Accountant OR
  • Company Secretary OR
  • Masters in Commerce (M Com) OR
  • Master in Business Studies / MBA (Finance) OR
  • Master in Business Economics

(III) Age Criteria for CGL Exam 2017


In this section, we will discuss the Age Limit for various CGL Posts, while for most of the posts, Age Criteria is 18 to 27 years, but there are a few posts, there is a different criteria.

Here is the List of posts having Age Criteria other than 18 to 27 years

1) Age-Limit : 20 to 30 years
  • Sub-Inspector (CBI)
  • Assistant Section Officer
  • Assistant (Ministry of External Affairs)
  • Assistant (AFHQ)
2) Age Limit : 21 to 27 years
  • Assistants in Intelligence Bureau (Ministry of Home Affairs)

3) Age Limit : 18 to 32 years
  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II
4) Age Limit: 18 to 25 years
  • Sub-Inspector in Central Bureau of Narcotics
5) Age Limit: 18 to 30 years
  • Assistant Audit Officer (Indian Audit and Accounts Department under CAG)
  • Sub-Inspector in NIA
  • Assistant Enforcement Officers

Note : For the rest of the posts, the Age Limit is 18 to 27 years

Important Points to Note


1) The Cut off Date for determining the Eligibility criteria is 1st August, 2017. That means, you should have acquired the relevant degrees and reach the specified age Limit before 1st August, 2017

2) The proof of Age, to be considered for checking the Age Limit is Matriculation Certificate.

3)  Applicants, must note that their Admission in CGL Written Exam is completely provisional. At this time, there will be No Scrutiny of your documents. But all these documents, will be checked, during the Tier-3 of exam.

When CGL 2017 Notification will be announced ?

Upcoming CGL 2017 Notification to be announced on 11th March, 2017. Tier-1 Exam to be held in June/July



If, you are a Government Job Seeker, then, you will be aware of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and various exams conducted by it. SSC is a government recruitment agency, that does the recruitment for Group ,B, C, D posts in Central Government Departments and Ministries. Though SSC conducts several Exams in a Calendar year, but the exams that get Maximum attention are SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, and SSC Jr. Engineer Exam.

Among these three, CGL is the most sought after Government Job Exam in India and and every year, lakhs of aspirants appear in this exam. The popularity of this exam can be understood by the fact, that for a Few thousand posts in 2016, a whooping No. of 38 lakh aspirants applied for this exam. This is the reason, that aspirants, are eagerly waiting for the announcement of CGL Notification.

SSC CGL Exam is an annual affair. There is No fixed schedule or timeline as such for the conduct of this exam. But going by the trends of last few years, the Notification for CGL Exam is announced anywhere between January to April and Exam is conducted in July to October. But SSC Does a good thing, by announcing the CGL Timetable in advance. This helps candidates, in knowing the tentative Schedule of CGL Exam and as such, they knew how much time, they have in hand for preparation of exam.

In this post, we will discuss the Complete Schedule of SSC CGL 2017 Notification. Not only the tentative schedule, we will keep you updated on the SSC CGL 2017 Exam Dates, Result Dates, and Admit Card Download Dates too. 


SSC CGL 2017 Notification


As, of now, only the Tentative Schedule of SSC CGL 2017 Exam is released by the SSC, and as per this Schedule, the Notification for CGL 2017 will be announced on  11th March, 2017 and Tier-1 Exam in scheduled in June / July, 2017.  

This tentative Schedule in announced by the commission through its yearly SSC Calendar 2017 , that also contains the schedule of all other exam too. For Complete Schedule of all other exams, you can read our previous post on SSC Calendar 2017

In 2016, The Notification, for CGL Exam was announced on 13th February, and Exam was held in August, 2016. Now, the Tier-1 Results have been announced and SSC is going to conduct the CGL Tier-2 Exam on   30th Nov, 2016. It is worth mentioning here that only 10% of candidates, who have appear in CGL Tier-1 Exam have been declared as Qualified while the 90% candidates, who have been declared unsuccessful, will have the option to appear for CGL 2017 Exam in June only.

1) Date of announcement of Notification: 11th March, 2017

2) Starting Date of Online Registration: 11th March, 2017

3) Last Date of Online Registration : 15th April, 2017

4) Availability of CGL Tier-1 Admit Cards: 1st week of June, 2017

5) Date of SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam: 19th June to 2nd July, 2017

6) Announcement of CGL Tier-1 Result : 1st week of August, 2017

7) SSC CGL 2017 Tier-2 Exam Dates: 5th to 8th September, 2017

8) SSC CGL Tier-3 : 12th November, 2017

9) SSC CGL Tier-4 (Skill test): December, 2017

Note: The above schedule is only tentative and subject to change. Exact schedule of  CGL 2017 Exam, will be know, only after the announcement of Notification.


Important Update for SSC CGL 2017 Aspirants 

SSC had released an important Notice regarding the Cut off Date for calculation of Age calculation. As per the Notice, the crucial date for determining the Age Limit and Eligibility criteria for CGL 2017 Exam is 1st August, 2017.

It is worth mentioning here that Crucial Date for any exam conducted by SSC Depends upon the Schedule of Paper-2 / Tier-2 /Mains Exams. As the CGL Tier-2 Exam is scheduled in August, 2016, and therefore, the Cut off Date is fixed as 1st August, 2017.

Moreover, SSC had clarified, that there won't be any changes, in the cut off Date.

SSC CGL 2017 Online Application form

SSC CGL 2017 Online Registration will start from 11th March, 2017. Here is the step by step guide for submitting the CGL 2017 Online application form



SSC CGL 2016 Tier-1 Results have been announced and only 10% of candidates, have qualified the exam and the rest 90% have been declared as Unsuccessful. Those, who have Qualified the Tier-1 Exam, will now appear for Tier-2 Exam and the rest 90% will have no option, but to wait for the announcement of SSC CGL 2017 Notification and the Big news is that CGL 2017 Exam Schedule have been announced, and you can Fill the SSC CGL 2017 Online application from 11th March, 2017.

The Tentative Schedule of SSC CGL 2017 Exam, was announced by SSC through its Exam Calendar 2017-18. Applicants must note that this is only the tentative Schedule and the exact schedule of CGL will be known, only after the announcement of CGL 2017 Notification. Though the upcoming CGL Notification is expected to be announced on 11th March, in case, there are any changes in the Notification announcement date, we will update the same on this page.

As, per the Official SSC 2017 Calendar, the Online registration will start from 11th March, 2016 and and the Last date to apply for CGL 2017 Exam is 15th April, 2017. However, applicants, must note that Part-1 Registration, closes at least days before th Part-2 Registration. So, the Last Date to apply for Part-1 Registration may be 13th April, 2016. However, the exact SSC CGL Registration schedule will be known only after the announcement of Notification.


Along with Notification dates, Commission had also announced the SSC CGL 2017 Exam Date for Tier-1 and Tier-2 Exam. While the Tier-1 will be held from 19th June onwards and Tier-2 is scheduled in August, 2017

Tentative Schedule of  Online Registration  for SSC CGL 2017

  • Starting date for submitting the CGL 2017 application form: 11th March, 2017
  • Closing Date of Part-1 Registration : 13th April, 2017
  • Closing Date of Part-2 Registration : 15th April, 2017

As, the CGL 2017 application is to be submitted by several Lakhs of applicants, therefore, it is highly advisable, that you should submit the Online form, during the starting dates and not wait for the last dates, as there might be several issues Like Website Not responding, server load, etc. that may pose difficulties in submitting the online application form.

If, you regularly apply for SSC Exam or other Recruitment Exams, that requires, online Registration, then you might be aware of How Online application submission works, but if this is the first time, that you are applying for SSC CGL Exam, then in this post, we will share the step by step methodology for submitting the  CGL 2017 Online form.



How to Apply for SSC CGL 2017 Exam ?


Before, you proceed to apply for SSC CGL 2017 Exam, then you should fulfill the Eligibility conditions as mentioned below


1) Age-Limit : The permissible age Limit to apply for CGL Exam is 20 to 27 years. But for some of the posts, the upper age is 28, 30 or 32 years. The post wise age criteria will be known, only after the announcement of Official Notification.

2) Educational Qualification : To apply for CGL 2017 Exam, you should have Degree in any discipline from a recognised Board OR University in India. Final year students can also apply for CGL Exam, provided they have have proof of passing their Graduation before 1st August, 2017.

Note: On 3rd November, 2016, SSC had released a Notification for the aspirants of CGL 2017 Exam, informing that, as per the DOPT's instructions, the cut off Date for determining the Eligibility criteria (Age and Qualifications) is 1st August, 2017 and there will be No change in it.

If, you fulfill the above mentioned eligibility conditions, then you can proceed to apply for CGL 2017 Exam.

Prior to 2015, SSC had provided the option to apply for CGL Exam either through Paper application form OR through Online Form, but since 2016 Since Exam, SSC discontinued accepting the Paper application forms, and made the Online Registration, as the only valid method to apply for CGL Exam.

In this section, we will discuss the exact process for submitting the CGL 2017 Online application form. Applicants must note that this is an only valid method to apply for CGL 2017 Exam.

SSC CGL 2017 Admit Card: Download from July, 2nd Week 

Pre-Requisites for Submitting the Online application form.

Now get ready for submitting the application form, but prior to that make sure you have the below mentioned Documents / Details with you, as these will be needed at the time of submitting the application form.

1) Scanned Photo and Signature : Applicants, must have their scanned photograph and Signature at the time of submitting the online form. Size of Photo and Signature should be per the dimensions given below

Photograph: The size of scanned photo should be in between 30 kb to 50 kb.and having dimensions of 100 pixel width and 120 pixel width.

Signature: The size of signature should be between 1kb to 12 kb.and having dimensions of 140 pixel width and 60 pixel height.

Note: Both the images, should be in .jpg format. It is worth mentioning here that application forms, without Photo / Signature Or blurred images, will be summarily rejected.

2) Applicants, must have their Final year marksheet with them, as you need to fill some details from the Graduation marks card

3) Applicants, should have a working Mobile No and Email ID, that should be kept active till the completion of selection process.


Note: While Aadhar card is not mandatory to apply for CGL-2017 Exam, but in case your AAdhar No. is generated, then you should enter in the form, so that in case of any difficulty or mismatch you identity can be verified



How to Submit the SSC CGL 2017 Online application form ?


Now, you have all the necessary details, you need to submit the CGL 2017 Online form. Next, you need to proceed with the actual process of submitting the application form.

SSC had made some encouraging changes in the Registration Process. From now on, Candidates may Register only once and they will be given a Registration No and Password, with which, you can apply for any SSC Exam in future. ie SSC now provides One Time Registration to candidates for all the SSC Exams.


Date and Time of Registration : Online Registration for SSC CGL 2017 Exam, begins from 11th March, 2017 and you can Register upto 15th April 2017 (5:00 PM)


Where to Register ? 

The Online Registration for CGL 2017 Exam, can be made only at www.ssconline.nic.in. Instructions, regarding submitting the online form are also given on the website

The Online Registration Comprises of Two Parts viz

(I) Registration Part

(II) Apply Part


(I) Registration Part  


In Registration Part, you need to Enter your Basic Details, Like Name, Father's Name, 10th Class Roll No. Date of Birth and Gender and thereafter you need to click on the Enter Button.




After that a New page, will be opened, that contains your already entered Details and a few details, that you need to Enter. After filling the form, you have to click on the submit button.

Once you click on the Submit button, the system will generate a Registration No and Password, that you should note Down or take its Print Out as it is needed in the Apply Part. Applicants must note that this is the One Time Registration and you can use this system generated Registration No and Password to apply for future SSC Exams.

After that, you will be asked to Upload your Photograph and Signature. It is upto you, whether, you would like to Upload Photo/Signature at this time, or at some Later Date/Time.

In case, you have made any mistake, in the Registration Part, then there is no need to worry, you can edit / Change the Details, from View/Edit Section anytime.

(II)  Application Filing Procedure (Application Part)


After the Registration Part, the next step is Apply Part. Here, you can login, using your Registration No, and Password, supplied in the previous part. After you Login, you will see a partly filled form.

The Fields that are filled up automatically, are non-Editable and the remaining fields are to be filled up by following the On-Screen Instructions.  After filling these details, you will have to Save the Form with Final Submit.

After you Save-Final Submit, the Application Fee window will appear,



Here, you have to Exercise, your option, whether, you are exempted from Payment of Fees or not. If, you are exempted, then you have to click on the Submit Button. However, If, you are not exempted, you have to choose between Online Fee Payment OR Offline Fee Payment mode and complete the process, by selecting the specified option, as per your preference,

Offline Mode: Those, who want to make the fee payment by offline mode, they can pay the application fee through Challan form in any SBI Branch.

Online Mode: For online mode, you have to make the Payment by using Debit/Credit Card OR Net  Banking.

After Payment of application fee, you apply part is complete.

After completing the application process, you can take the Print out of the filled in application form, from the Default page and save it for future references.

Though SSC conducts several exams in a year, but the most popular ones are CGL and CHSL .

(I)) SSC CGL Exam : SSC CGL Exam is one of the most popular Job tests for Graduates in India. (II) SSC CHSL Exam: As CGL is for Graduates, CHSL is for Intermediates (12th Pass), looking for Central Government Jobs in India. CHSL stands for Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam. Earlier the CHSL Exam is conducted for Lower Division Clerk and Data Entry Operator posts, but from 2015 CHSL Exam, Postal Assistants / Sorting Assistants are also included in the CHSL Exam.
