Current Status : As of now, there is No news Official Or Unofficial news regarding the postponement of CGL 2017 Notification. It is expected that before SSC will conducts the CGL 2016 Tier-3 Exam, it will announce the CGL 2017 Notification and expectedly on 11th March, 2017.

We have also filed an RTI to know the Exact Date of CGL 2017 Notification and once we get the Reply, we will share on this page.

Big News: SSC had made some big changes, regarding the Age Limit for CGL 2017 Exam. As per the Official Notification, Now the revised age limit for Group B posts in 18 to 30 years.

Moreover the Crucial Date for Determining the Age Limit and Qualifications is 1st August, 2017 


SSC's Combined Graduate Level Exam (CGLE) is India's one of the most sought after Government Job Exam in India, the reason is that, it opens the gateway to high salaried Group B and Group C posts in Central Government Departments and Ministries. Every year, around 30-40 lakh applications, are received for CGL Exam. In 2016, an all time high record was created with 38 lakh applications received for CGL 2016 Exam and in 2017 this number may touch even 40 Lakhs., with the addition of lakhs of fresh Graduates, passing out every year.


So, imagine an exam where 40 lakh candidates apply for a few thousand posts , the competition can be whooping high. The applicant vacancy ration in CGL Exam is 1:600, ie 500 students are in competition for a every single post in CGL Exam. But the Good news is that CGL 2017 will be big as far vacancies are concerned. It is expected that 2017 CGL Exam may have more than 20000 vacancies and bulk of these vacancies will be for Income Tax Department.

How to Get SSC CGL 2017 Notification ?


You can get the CGL Notification, only after it will be officially announced by SSC.


The release date of SSC CGL Notification, and tentative schedule of announcement, will be known, only after the SSC Exam Calendar for 2017 will be announced. This calendar, will have Date of CGL Notification, Dates for submitting the online application and Exam dates.


However, going by the trends of last few years (Expect 2015), CGL Notification is announced in January OR February. Only is 2015, the Notification, was announced in May.


Update: We would like to update all our readers that SSC had announced the Tentative Schedule of Exams to be held in 2017-18. As per the information, given in the Exam Calendar, CGL Notification will be announced on 11th March, 2017

Who can apply for SSC CGL 2017 Exam ?


If, you are willing to appear in the CGL 2017 Exam, then you should full fill the below mentioned eligibility conditions


1) Nationality : To appear for CGL Exam, you must be an Indian, OR a subject of Nepal Or a subject of Bhutan


2) Age Limit (As on 1st August, 2017): SSC CGL offers various posts, and as such these posts carry different Age Limit, but for the most of the posts, age criteria is 18 to 27 years and 20 to 30 years.


At the time of verification, your age as recorded in your Matriculation certificate, will be only accepted as Proof of Age.


3) Educational Qualification 
(As on 1st August, 2017): The basic qualification to apply for CGL Exam is only Graduation, but for a few posts you need additional qualification Like If, you want to apply for Statistical Investigator post, you should have Statistics as one of the subject at degree level

Upper Age Relaxed by 3 years

On 30th Dec, 2016, Department of Personnel Training (DOPT) had released a Notification, giving relaxation is upper age limit for various group B posts having Grade Pay of Rs 4200, Rs 4600 and Rs 4800. 


As per the Notification, the Age limit for CGL 2017 Exam, is relaxed by 3 years. Now, those with with upper age less than 30 years, can apply for CGL Exams. Earlier the age limit is 18 to 27 years.

SSC CGL 2017 Selection process

The selection process for CGL Exam, comprises of Three tier exams (Tier-1, Tier-2 and Tier-3), followed by computer proficiency test / Skill test.

1) Tier-1 : All those, who apply for CGL Exam, will have to appear for Tier-1 Exam, which comprises of 100 Objective Questions  (200 Marks) from 4 sections, given below. 


Each Question carry 2 marks and Total time allotted is 75 minutes.


  • General English 25 Questions (50 Marks)
  • General Awareness 25 Questions (50 Marks)
  • Reasoning 25 Questions (50 Marks)
  • Quantitative Aptitude 25 Questions (50 Marks)

Note : There is penalty of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer.

2) Tier-2 : All those, who qualify the Tier-1 exam, will have to appear in the Tier-2 Exam, which comprises of 4 Papers, having duration of 2 hours each. Paper-1 and Paper-2 is compulsory for all, Paper-3 and Paper-4 is only for those, who have applied for Statistical Investigator and Assistant Audit Officer in CAG respectively.

  • Paper-1 : Quantitative Abilities (100 Questions / 200 marks)
  • Paper-2 : English Language and Comprehension (200 Questions / 200 Marks)
  • Paper-3 Statistics  (100 Questions / 200 marks)
  • Paper-4 : Finance and Economics (100 Questions / 200 marks)

3) Tier-3 : Those, who qualify the Tier-2 Exam, will have to appear for Tier-3 Exam, which is descriptive Paper of 100 marks, that have questions on Essay writing and Letter writing. 

  • Minimum marks required to Qualify the descriptive Paper is only 33%
  • Descriptive Paper is Bilingual. ie you have the option to write the paper in Hindi Or English. However, part of paper written in Hindi and part in English, will not be evaluated

Note: Applicants must note that, marks obtained in the Descriptive Paper are to be considered in the preparation of Final Merit. Merely passing the exam, and not getting the good marks, can impact your Final Result.


Final Merit : The Final Merit is obtained by combining the marks obtained in the Tier-1, Tier-2 and Tier-3 taken together. Those, who fall in the Merit will be called for Tier-4 stage


4) Tier-4 comprises of Computer Proficiency test/  Skill test which is of Qualifying nature.



  • Skill test is only for the post of Tax Assistants (In Central Excise and Income Tax Department)
  • Computer Proficiency test (CPT) is conducted only for Assistant Section Officer in CSS. CPT involves Word Processing, Generation of Slides and Spread Sheet.

SSC CGL 2017 Admit Cards


Admit Cards for CGL 2017 Exam, will be issued once we get to know the firm dates of Tier-1 and Tier-2 Exam

As, the CGL Tier-1 exams are scheduled from 19th June, 2017, so we can expect SSC Regional websites may start Downloading of Admit cards from 2nd week of June, 2017. 

Moreover, before releasing the Admit cards, SSC will release a detailed notification, regarding the Downloading schedule of Admit cards. So, keep checking this page for real time updates on Admit cards for CGL Exam.

The most expected Date for release of CGL 2017 Tier-1 Admit cards is 6th to 10th June, 2017. Once the Admit cards will be uploaded on the Regional websites, we will share the Direct Links for downloading Admit cards on this page.


And for CGL Tier-2 Exams, that are scheduled from 5th to 8th September, 2017, Admit cards can be downloaded from last week of August, 2017

How to Apply ?


To, apply for CGL 2017 Exam, you need to wait till the announcement of Notification and activation of Online Registration Link.

SSC gives ample time, to apply for CGL Exam. Normally, 30 Days, are given for submitting the online application form. In 2016, the Online application dates were extended twice, so as to facilitate, more and more candidates to apply for CGL Exam and the result is 35 lakh applications were received.

Application form : SSC had both Online and offline forms to apply for CGL Exam. 

Paper application forms, can be printed from the Official CGL Notification document Or you can taken from local stationary shop.

Alternatively, you can also submit the online application for logging on to the SSC Online websites @ www.sscregistration.com and www.ssconline2.gov.in.

Here are some simple steps for submitting the SSC CGL 2017 Online form

1) Open any of these SSC Registration websites Like www.ssconline2.gov.in OR www.sscregistration.com

2) Part-1 Registration : After that, you can have to proceed for Part of SSC CGL Registration. Herem you have to Fill your Basic Details, Like NAme, Parentage, Age, Central, Eductaion Qualifications etc, that you can simply fill by following the On-Screen Instructions.

3) Part-2 Registration : After completing the Part-1 Registration, you will be assigned a Registration No, which is needed for completing the Part-2 of Registration, which includes, uploading the Photograph and Signature and Payment of Application fees.

It is only after you complete the Payment process, your application will be accepted. 

It is highly advisable, that you should be very careful, while filling the Online form, as Incomplete , Inaccurate and Partially filled form, will be out rightly rejected, and therefore, you won't appear in the CGL Exam.

Apply Online Dates: The Online Registration for CGL 2017 exam, will start from 11th March, 2017 and will end on 15th April, 2017. However the closing  dates for Part-1 and Part-2 Registration, will be known only after the announcement of CGL 2017 Notification

Application fees: Exam fees is what that make, more and more candidates, apply for CGL Exam. SSC charges, only Rs 100 as application cum examination fees. 

Moreover, Category and female candidates are exempted from paying any application fees.

This low application fees is also a reason somewhere for so many candidates apply for CGL Exam.

But, when it comes to attendance, Only 50% appear for CGL Exam.

SSC 2017 Exam dates are out and everyone is waiting for the announcement of SSC CGL 2017 Notification. If things, for SSC go as per planned, then Notification for CGL 2017 Exam, will be announced on 11th March, 2017. But, most of the time, we see there is postponement and rescheduling of SSC Notifications and Exam Dates.

Reason is SSC CGL Tier-2 has the maximum weightage among all the Tiers in CGL Exam

2) Tier-2 : 400 Marks
3) Tier-3 : 100 Marks

 That is CGL Tier-2 Exam has a weighate of 57%  among all the the three Tiers

SSC CGL 2017 Admit Card cum Online Hall Ticket

Applied for CGL 2017 Exam and Looking for CGL Admit Cards ? Here is the step by step process for Downloading CGL 2017 Hall Tickets without Registration Number.



If, you are reading this post, then chances are looking for Admit Cards for SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam. But before, you start reading this post and know the exact process for Downloading the SSC CGL Online Admit Cards, you should keep in mind, that Only those candidates, will be issued Admit Card, who have successfully submitted their CGL 2017 Online Applications.

We are saying this, because, SSC will soon release the List of Candidates, whose applications have been rejected by the Commission. Now, the Questions is Why these applications are rejected.

SSC had several reasons for rejecting the applications given as under.

1) Incomplete Applications: You have completed the Part-1 of Registration, but did not complete the Part-2 of Registration. To know, how to successfully submit the Online applications, applicants are advised to read our previous post on How to submit SSC CGL 2017 Online form ?

2) Blurred Photo and Signature: SSC had mentioned some rules regarding the uploading of Scanned Photograph and Signature. Size and Dimensions are one thing, but you should make sure that your Scanned Photos, are of clear vision (Like No Blur and No Red eye)

3) You application may also gets rejected, If you failed to Pay the application fees. So make sure that you pay the application fees either through online mode / offline mode, before the stipulated time.

Applicants must also note that merely getting the Registration No., does not entitle you to Download the CGL Admit card and appear in the Exam. So, in case, you are unable to Download your SSC CGL 2017 Admit Card, then it can be due to any of the above mentioned reasons

But, even being your CGL Application Status shown as "Accepted" and still you are unable to Download your CGL 2017 Admit Card, then you are advised to read this post, till end as here we will discuss the Step by step Process for downloading the CGL 2017 Hall Tickets.

Pre-Requisites for Downloading the SSC Admit Cards


Before, you proceed to Download the Admit Cards, keep the following things in mind so, you won't face any difficulties at the time of downloading the Admit Cards

1) First, make sure that your CGL 2017 Application is Accepted.  Only those, candidates, who have successfully submitted their applications before the Last date, will be able to download their admit cards

2) Registration No. : With Registration No., it gets easy to download the CGL Admit cards. Registration No. is generated at the time of submitting the application form. In case, you forget the Registration No, you can obtain it from the  Email Address, and Mobile No. you submitted at the time of filling the Online CGL form.

After your submit your application for CGL Exam, SSC had sent you an Email and SMS as acknowledgement that your Application is accepted. All you need to check the Inbox and SMS of your respective Email and Mobile No. respectively

3) Website Address : Applicants must keep this thing in mind, that Admit Cards cannot be downloaded from the Official SSC Website (www.ssc.nic.in).

Instead, you have to download the Admit Cards from the Respective SSC Regional Websites. There are 9 SSC Regional Offices in India and each Regional Office has its own website, from where you have to Download the CGL 2017 Hall Tickets.

Example: You have submitted your Application to SSC North western Regions, then your Admit cards can be downloaded from the Official Website of SSC-NWR

When CGL 2017 Admit Card can be Downloaded ?

Knowing the Exact Schedule for Downloading of Admit cards, may help you in many ways. As the SSC CGL 2017 Notification is tentatively scheduled to be announced on 11th March, 2017, therefore, only after that, we get to know the exact schedule of CGL Exam.

So, you need to wait till 11th March for the release of Official SSC CGL Notification.

But with SSC 2017 Exam Calendar, already announced, tentative schedule of SSC CGL 2017 Exam is available, and also the date for availability of CGL 2017 Admit Cards.

As per the SSC Exam Calendar, 2017, CGL Tier-1 Exams are tentatively schedule from 19th June to 2nd July, 2017, therefore, expect the Admit cards to be released at least 2 weeks before the Exam dates. So, going by that, we can expect the SSC Regional Offices to release the Admit Cards by 1st week of June, 2017

How to Download the SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Admit Cards ?


Now, you know the expected Date for availability of Admit cards, next thing, you need to know is the Exact process for Downloading of Admit Cards

1) Open the Respective SSC Regional Website. The list of each SSC Office along with their respective websites, is given above.

2) On this Homepage, you will find several links, Find the Link containing "Admit Card" OR "Download Admit Card" OR "Download Duplicate Admit Card" Or anything like that. and Click on that link

Note: When the Admit cards, will be available for download, the same will be highlighted on the Website so you can easily find it.

3) Once, you click on Admit Card Link, it will open the Admit Card Download Page, where you need to Enter Details to download your Admit Card

There are 2 ways to Download the Admit Card. First by using your Registration No and other by Using the Search Functionality

i) By Registration No. : Here, you have to enter your Registration No and Date of Birth and after that Click on "Search Status" Button. If, the Details are correct, it will display your Admit Cards. Then you can Download it and Print it.



ii) By Search Functionality : This is for those, who Forget, their Registration No. They can download their Admit Card, by entering the First Four Characters of Name , Father's Name and Date of Birth and Click "Search Status".

After that system, will search the entire Database, and match it with the entered Details, and fetch the results. containing your Admit card.

This way, you can download your Admit cards, even without Registration No.

Forget Registration No ?


Registration No. is important not only for Downloading of Admit Card, but is also required for further stages of CGL Exam. In case, you forget your Registration No, there are a few way to obtain it

1) From Email : At the time of submitting the CGL Application form, there is a field, although optional, that requires you to enter your Email address. Once, you complete the Registration process, SSC send you an Email containing this Registration No. 

So, you can Log in to your Email and retrieve the Registration No., by checking the Emails, sent by SSC 

2) From Message Inbox of your Mobile: Just like Email, SSC also sends an SSC to your Registered Mobile No. This SMS contains the Registration No. Check your previous SMS's to get the SSC CGL Registration No.

Unable to Download Admit Card.Whom to Contact ?

SSC CGL 2017 Cut off for Tier-1

The much awaited Notification for SSC CGL 2017 Exam, will be announced on 11th March, 2017 and it is expected that this time, there will be record registrations for the CGL Exam, thanks to Bumper vacancies in the CGL 2017 Exam.

Although, the exact no. of vacancies, will be known only after the announcement of CGL 2017 Notification. Applicants must note that vacancies for CGL Exam are not announced at the time of Notification, rather the vacancies are being continuously collected from respective departments and are constantly updated on the Official Website of SSC. But with this announcement of CGL 2017 Exam Dates, applicants have already started their preparation for upcoming CGL Exam.

In this post, we will discuss about the Expected Cut off for SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam. Well the Exact Cut off will be known, only when the CGL Tier-1 2017 Results will be announced, but still, we can predict the Expected Cut off for CGL 2017 Exam, before the announcement of results.

What are the safe marks in SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam?


Knowing the safe marks in advance and before the exam, will help you in the long run. At Least, you get to know, how many marks, you need to know, how many marks you need in the exam, to qualify for the CGL Tier-2 stage.

Well, much depends upon how you fare at the Exam .

Your chances of scoring the Marks more than Cut off marks,, will depend you

1) How many Questions, you have attempted in the CGL Tier-1 Exam.

2) Percentage of Correct Questions in the CGL Exam.

Tip: If, you attempt maximum Questions, with higher accuracy rate, then chances are that your score more than Cut off marks in the CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam.

Applicants, must note that merely scoring the marks greater than Cut off marks, will not ensure that you fall in the Merit List, as you need to score as much marks as possible, in the Tier-1 stage, so that marks obtained in this stage, can impact the Final Ranking and take you to the upper side of the merit list.

As the Final Merit for SSC CGL 2017 Exam, will be based on your marks obtained in the Tier-1. Tier-2 and Tier-3 stages. 

Expected Cut off for SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam


SSC CGL Tier-1 Exams are scheduled to start from 19th June to 2nd July, 2017 and Tier-1 Results are expected to be announced by 2nd week of August, 2017. 

For 2017 CGL Exam, we can expect the Cut offs to be at the higher side, owing to the fact that Large No. of candidates will make their appearance in the CGL 2017 Exam.

Note: Cut Off is only based on prediction, and the exact cut off may vary.

The exact cut off will be known only after the announcement of CGL 2017 Tier-1 Result. So you need to wait till the month of August, when CGL Tier-1 Results will be announced officially.

It is worth mentioning here that just before the announcement of results, SSC will release the Candidate's' Response Sheet and Answer Key, so that you get to know the Marks, and then compare it with the Expected Cut off marks, to known your position in the CGL Exam.

While, preparing for the exam, aspirants are advised to prepare as per the Revised SSC CGL 2017 Syllabus and Exam Pattern. It is worth mentioning here SSC had made some big changes in the Pattern and Scheme of CGL Exams from 2016.


SSC CGL Cut off of Last 3 years


1) SSC CGL 2016 Cut off : In 2016, CGL Exam, 14.84 lakh candidates have appeared in the Tier-1 Exam, out of which 1.49 lakh (approx) have qualified for Tier-2 stage. As per the Date made available by SSC, following is the Category wise Cut off for CGL 2016 Tier-1 Exam

  • General: 137 marks
  • OBC: 125.50 marks
  • SC: 114 marks
  • ST: 103 marks
Total Marks : 200

This is for the first time, that Cut offs have gone,  much higher. You can see the difference, by comparing these Cut offs, with the Previous years Cut off of 2015, 2014 exams,

2) SSC CGL 2015 Cut off: As against 14 lakh in 2016, over 17 lakh candidates have appeared in cGL 2015 Tier-1 Exam, and out of which 1.66 lakh have qualified the exam.

  • General: 102.25 marks
  • OBC: 125.50 marks
  • SC: 114 marks
  • ST: 103 marks

3) SSC CGL 2014 Cut off: In 2014 CGL Tier-1 Exam, an approximate no. of 13 lakh candidates have appeared in the CGL Exam and when the results were announced, this is the picture of Category wise cut off 
  • General: 96.50 marks
  • OBC: 82 marks
  • SC: 77 marks
  • ST: 69.50 marks
If, you carefully, look at the Cut offs of the last 3 years, then you will find that with every year, Cut offs have increased. So, we expect that Cut off for SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam, will be at higher side
