Latest Update: SSC is expected to release the SSC CGL 2017 Application Status by the Last week of June and Admit Cards can be Downloaded from 18th July 2017 Onwards. (Last Updated on 13th June 2017)

If you are reading this post, then chances are you are looking for Admit Cards for SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam.SSC CGL 2017 Notification was announced on 16th May and since that Online registration is going. The Last Date for submitting the SSC CGL Online form is 16th June 2017.  But before, you start reading this post and know the exact process for Downloading the SSC CGL 2017 Online Admit Cards, you should keep in mind, that Only those candidates, will be issued Admit Card, who have successfully submitted their CGL 2017 Online Applications

We are saying this, because, SSC will soon release the List of Candidates, whose applications have been rejected by the Commission. Now, the Questions is Why these applications are rejected.

SSC had several reasons for rejecting the applications given as under.

1) Incomplete Applications: You have completed the Part-1 of Registration, but did not complete the Part-2 of Registration. To know, how to successfully submit the Online applications, applicants are advised to read our previous post on How to submit SSC CGL 2017 Online form 

2) Blurred Photo and Signature: SSC had mentioned some rules regarding the uploading of Scanned Photograph and Signature. Size and Dimensions are one thing, but you should make sure that your Scanned Photos are of clear vision (Like No Blur and No Redeye)

3) Your application may also get rejected If you failed to Pay the application fees. So make sure that you pay the application fees either through online mode / offline mode, before the stipulated time.

Applicants must also note that merely getting the Registration No., does not entitle you to Download the CGL Admit card and appear in the Exam. So, in case, you are unable to Download your SSC CGL 2017 Admit Card, then it can be due to any of the above-mentioned reasons.

So, the best advice is to Check your SSC CGL 2017 Application status from the respective SSC Websites. Many Regional websites will soon release the Application Status for CGL 2017 Aspirants. Moreover, If, your application status is shown as Accepted, then you easily download the SSC CGL Hall Tickets.

But, even being your CGL Application Status shown as "Accepted" and still, you are unable to Download your CGL 2017 Admit Card, then you are advised to read this post, till the end as here we will discuss the Step by Step Process for downloading the CGL 2017 Hall Tickets.

Pre-Requisites for Downloading the SSC Admit Cards

Before, you proceed to Download the Admit Cards, keep the following things in mind so, you won't face any difficulties at the time of downloading the Admit Cards

1) First, make sure that your CGL 2017 Application is Accepted.  Only those, candidates, who have successfully submitted their applications before the Last date, will be able to download their admit cards

2) Registration No. : With Registration No., it gets easy to download the CGL Admit cards. Registration No. is generated at the time of submitting the application form. In case, you forget the Registration No, you can obtain it from the  Email Address, and Mobile No. you submitted at the time of filling the Online CGL form.

After your submit your application for CGL Exam, SSC had sent you an Email and SMS as an acknowledgement that your Application is accepted. All you need to check the Inbox and SMS of your respective Email and Mobile No. respectively

3) Website Address: Applicants must keep this thing in mind, that Admit Cards cannot be downloaded from the Official SSC Website (

Instead, you have to download the Admit Cards from the Respective SSC Regional Websites. There are 9 SSC Regional Offices in India and each Regional Office has its own website, from where you have to Download the CGL 2017 Hall Tickets.

Example: You have submitted your Application to SSC Northwestern Regions, then your Admit cards can be downloaded from the Official Website of SSC-NWR

When CGL 2017 Admit Card can be Downloaded?

Knowing the Exact Schedule for Downloading of Admit cards may help you in many ways. As we all know that CGL Notification was announced on 16th May and Exams are Scheduled to start from 1st August 2017.

SSC will conduct the Exams for a period of 20 Days and each Day will have 3 shifts, so you have your CGL Exam on any given Shift on a particular Day. 

As the Tier-1 Exams are commencing from 1st August 2017 onwards, so SSC might release the Admit Cards at least 10-12 Days before the Exam Date. In 2016 CGL Exam, Admit Cards were released 12 Days before the starting Date of Exams. 

Previously when SSC conduct Offline Exams, admit cards are sent to candidates at their respective address, but now SSC only releases Online Admit cards that can be downloaded from the respective SSC Regional Websites

How to Download the SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Admit Cards?

Now, you know the expected Date for Availability of Admit cards, next thing, you need to know is the Exact process for Downloading of Admit Cards

1) Open the Respective SSC Regional Website. The list of each SSC Office along with their respective websites is given above.

2) On this Homepage, you will find several links, Find the Link containing "Admit Card" OR "Download Admit Card" OR "Download Duplicate Admit Card" Or anything like that. and Click on that link

Note: When the Admit cards, will be available for download, the same will be highlighted on the Website so you can easily find it.

3) Once, you click on Admit Card Link, it will open the Admit Card Download Page, where you need to Enter Details to download your Admit Card

There are 2 ways to Download the Admit Card. First by using your Registration No and other by Using the Search Functionality

i) By Registration No. : Here, you have to enter your Registration No and Date of Birth and after that Click on "Search Status" Button. If, the Details are correct, it will display your Admit Cards. Then you can Download it and Print it.

ii) By Search Functionality: This is for those, who Forget, their Registration No. They can download their Admit Card, by entering the First Four Characters of Name, Father's Name and Date of Birth and Click "Search Status".

After that system, will search the entire Database, and match it with the entered Details, and fetch the results. containing your Admit card.

This way, you can download your Admit cards, even without Registration No.

Forget Registration No?

Registration No. is important not only for Downloading of Admit Card but is also required for further stages of CGL Exam. In case, you forget your Registration No, there are a few way to obtain it

1) From Email: At the time of submitting the CGL Application form, there is a field, although optional, that requires you to enter your Email address. Once, you complete the Registration process, SSC sends you an Email containing this Registration No. 

So, you can Log in to your Email and retrieve the Registration No., by checking the Emails, sent by SSC 

2) From Message Inbox of your Mobile: Just like Email, SSC also sends an SSC to your Registered Mobile No. This SMS contains the Registration No. Check your previous SMS's to get the SSC CGL Registration No.

Unable to Download Admit Card.Whom to Contact?

5 Big Changes in SSC CGL 2017 Exam Pattern and Eligibility

You all know that SSC CGL 2017 Notification is announced, but this year, there are a few changes in the Exam Pattern, Eligibility criteria and Introduction of New posts. If, you have not appeared in the Last years SSC CGL Exam, then you would like to inform you, that Major changes in the CGL Exam took place in 2016, when

1) Interviews  for SSC CGL Exam were scrapped

2) Mode of Exam (Tier-1 and Tier-2) is completely online (Computer Based Test)

3) Introduction of Descriptive Paper as Tier-3.

These are some changes that were introduced in the Last years SSC CGL Exam, in comparison to this, Changes in the SSC CGL 2017 Exam are not that bit, but still needs you attention if, you planning to Apply Online for SSC CGL 2017 Exam.

1) Notification for SSC CGL 2017 is announced now and you can submit your application from from 16th May, onwards

Current Status : On 10th April, 2017, SSC had announced the Exact Date of Release of SSC CGL 2017 Notification. As per the Official notice, CGL 2017 Advertisement will be announced on 16th May, 2017 ( A Delay of over 2 months from the tentative Date ie 11th March, 2017)

Now, wait till 16th May, to see what changes SSC is going to implement for its CGL 2017 Exam.

SSC CGL 2017 Notification announced before the Expected Date

The much awaited SSC CGL Notification for 2017 was announced one day before the actual release date. As per the Revised SSC Calendar, Notification, was to be announced on 16th May, but took everyone by surprise by announcing the Notification on 15th May at 8 Pm. Those, who are looking for CGL Notification in Employment Newspapers are hereby informed that SSC Notification is released only online and such you are advised to download it in PDF format from this website or from SSC Official Website

It looks SSC had released in Notification in great hurry and such they have made a mistake in the First Line of Notification. Instead of writing CGL-2017 they have written CGL-2016, check it below

Big news is that SSC had made a few changes and Introduces some new posts in CGL 2017 Exam

1) Time Duration : SSC had revised the time limit for Tier-1 Exam. In 2017 CGL Exam, you will have only 60 minutes Tier-1 Exam. Earlier Tier-1 has duration of 75 minutes, which is now reduced to only 1 Hours. There will be 100 Questions (200 Marks)

2) Reckoning Date : Wel, SSc had notified this thing earlier, that Cut Off Date or Crucial Date for Determining the Age Limit is 1st August, 2017. Moreover, Final years studnets can apply, provided they have completed their Degree before 1st August, 2017

3) Relaxation in Upper Age: Good news is that, now aspirants over the age of 27 years, can apply for SSC CGL Exam, SSC had revised the upper age limit for some on posts and increased it by 3 years. The posts for which SSC had increased the upper age limit is CSS, Railway, IB, MEA, AFHQ etc

4) New Posts Introduced: In 2017, SSC had introduced some news posts Like Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistants in Serious Fraud Investigation Officer and Other Departments

5) Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) : For some of posts, SSC had made CPT as an essential Qualification. these posts are 

  • Assistant Section Officer (CSS)
  • Assistant Section Officer (MEA)
  • Assistant (GSI) in Ministry of Mines
  • Assistants in Serious Fraud Investigation Agency
6) Post Preference: If you think, that filling the SSC CGL post preferences is a headache for you, then SSC eases the process as the Post Preference only filled at the time of Document Verification, will be considered as valid. So no need to worry, much at the time of filling the CGL Online form 2017

7) Syllabus : If, you have appeared in the previous CGL 2016 Exam and did not qualify, then don't start you preparation from where you left, as there are No Changes in the SSC CGL Syllabus in 2017

SSC's Combined Graduate Level Exam (CGLE) is India's one of the most sought after Government Job Exam in India, the reason is that, it opens the gateway to high salaried Group B and Group C posts in Central Government Departments and Ministries. Every year, around 30-40 lakh applications, are received for CGL Exam. In 2016, an all time high record was created with 38 lakh applications received for CGL 2016 Exam and in 2017 this number may touch even 40 Lakhs., with the addition of lakhs of fresh Graduates, passing out every year.

Revised SSC CGL 2017 Schedule Announced 

Update (As on 10th April, 2017) 

The most awaited SSC CGL 2017 Schedule is announced by SSC on 10th april, 2017. Earlier, the Notification was to be announced on 11th March, 2017, but without any explanation, SSC had delayed the announcement of Notification and Today, SSc had announced the Date of announcement of CGL 2017 Notification.

It will be big relief for the students who have been waiting for the announcement of Notification from 1 Month. However, SSC had not cited any reason, regarding the delay in announcing the date of SSC CGL 2017 Exam.

It is being reiterated, that SSC plans to make some changes in the Pattern of SSC CGL Exam and for that it needs some additional time. Moreover, SSC had also scrapped the Previous SSC Calender released in October, 2016 and instead release a Revised SSC Exam Calendar with New Notification and Exam Dates of various SSC EXams.

Except rumours, no one has exact information regarding the SSC CGL Notification Date. There is a message getting viral on Social Media, regarding the conduct of SSC CGL Exam. Moreover, SSC Regional Website have a announced a Notice regarding the announcement of Notification for Selection posts in 2nd week of April.

Aspirants are taking this Notice for CGL Exam, but this Notice pertains to Selection Posts. So, it is highly requested that you should not pay any heed towards these rumours and instead you keep on with your preparation for CGL 2017 Exam.

However, these are some changes, that we are expecting for CGL Exam

1) Tier-1 may be of Qualifying nature ie It is for screening only. Marks obtained in this exam, will not be used in the Final selection.

2) Tier-1 may be conducted by NCS and there are chances that there will be common exam comprising of CGL, CPO etc.

3) There may be change in the Scheme and Pattern of Exam. Syllabus will remain same.

4) Sify, which conducts the online exams for SSC may be ruled out of future SSC Exams, due to its faulty Online process

SSC CGL 2017 Notification expected in 2nd week of April

It is not yet clear regarding the exact date of announcement of SSC CGL Notification, but today, a Short Notice is uploaded on the Official website SSC Eastern Region, informing that Online Registration for various categories of posts will start from 2nd week of April, 2017.

However, there is no mentions, that whether these posts will be of SSC CGL, SSC CAPFs, Or some other posts.

WE are not very sure that these will be SSC CGL post. So, we have to wait till the 2nd week of April, to know which these posts are. 

Common Exam for Government Jobs, NCS likely to conduct the Tier-1

Over the Last few days, there is discussion on Social Media, that why the SSC Exams Like CGL, CPO are postponed, some say, that SSC wants to change the Selection criteria, and for that it is awaiting approval from DOPT, Government of India. Last week, there were news, that Government had planned to conduct the Common Exams for Government Jobs with Common Registrations at the NCS Portal

National Career Service : There is also a confirmed news that may be Tier-1 of Next SSC CGL 2017 exam will be conducted by NCS , as Government had already started the process for conducting Common Tier-1 exam for all Non-Gazetted posts through a Single testing Agency.

For this purpose, One Time Registration of Candidates will be taken at the NCS Portal. SSC CGL 2017 Notification Postponed

SSC is yet to confirm the upcoming Date of SSC CGL 2017 Notification. As per the Calendar, Notification was to be announced on 11th March, 2017, but SSC again failed to comply with the Tentative Schedule and Notification was not announced on said date.

Even Leading News Websites Like India Today, Zee News, Indian Express have reported that CGL 2017 Notification, will be announced on 11th March, but it looks SSC has some different Plans

Here are some possible reasons, that lead to Delay in the Notification

1) First SSC want to complete the Recruitment process for CGL 2016 Tier-1 Exam. CGL 2016 Tier-3 Paper is scheduled on 11th March, 2017 and after that there will be Tier-IV and this whole process many take more than a month to complete.

2) SSC had sent a File to DOPT regarding some changes in the cGL Exam. It is reported that the file is still pending with the DOPT. Only after the file gets cleared SSC will announce the Notification

3) SSC may be considering some changes for the CGL 2017 Exam. Possible changes are 
  • Increasing the Upper age limit to 30 years
  • Reducing the Time Duration in Tier-1 from 75 minutes to 60 minutes

And Last But not the Least.

Postponing Notification and Exam Dates have become a routine at SSC.

Important Highlights of SSC CGL 2017 Exam

1) In 2017, CGL Exam may have record no. of vacancies, thanks to Central Government's decision to create 2.83 lakh vacancies in 2017-18. As recruitment for Central Government Departments is done by SSC, so this year, CGL will be a big Exam, with maximum people applying for it and Bumper vacancies

2) For 2017 CGL Exam, Age Limit is raised by 3 years. Earlier the Upper age limit for CGL posts is 27 years, but with this increase, candidates upto the age of 30 can apply for CGL 2017 Exam. Here is our Detailed post on SSC CGL 2017 Age Limit.

3) Crucial Date for determining the Eligibility criteria, in the CGL 2017 Exam, will be 1st August, 2017. Earlier the Crucial Date is as per the closing date of Application form Or Ist Jan of the year of Notification.

4) Its rumoured, that there may be a Change in the Scheme of SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam and that too for the Exam Time. It is informed, that Duration for CGL Tier-1 Exam may be reduced from 75 minutes to 60 minutes. 

First three points are correct and there is a doubt over Point No. 4 and only after the announcement of CGL Notification, we get to know the Exact Pattern of CGL Exam.

How to Get SSC CGL 2017 Notification ?

You can get the CGL Notification, only after it will be officially announced by SSC.

The release date of SSC CGL Notification, and tentative schedule of announcement, will be known, only after the SSC Exam Calendar for 2017 will be announced. This calendar, will have Date of CGL Notification, Dates for submitting the online application and Exam dates.

However, going by the trends of last few years (Expect 2015), CGL Notification is announced in January OR February. Only is 2015, the Notification, was announced in May.

Update: We would like to update all our readers that SSC had announced the Tentative Schedule of Exams to be held in 2017-18. As per the information, given in the Exam Calendar, CGL Notification will be announced on 11th March, 2017. But SSC had scrapped its Exam Calendar released in Oct, 2016 and SSC had announced a Revised Exam Calendar on 10th April, which shows 16th May as the Date of announcement of CGL 2017 Notification

Post-Preference in the SSC CGL 2017 Exam

What is the Salary for SSC CGL Posts ?

As we know, that SSC CGL is a common exam for various Group B and Group C posts and as such their Pay-Scale and Salaries are different. Moreover, Salaries also vary as per the Location of posting.

Example : You will be paid higher in Metro cities and comparatively less in Non-Metro cities.

Posts in CGL are broadly classified into 

1) Group B posts having Grade Pay of Rs 4200, Rs 4600 and Rs 4800

2) Group C posts having Grade Pay of Rs 2400 and Rs 2800.

As, we have mentioned above that Salaries vary by post wise and Location wise, So here is approximate salaries as per the Grade Pay

Now, the Question is what to do next, after the Notification, gets announced.

1) Read the Full content of the Notification, and find if there are any changes in the SSC CGL 2017 Eligibility criteria, Exam, Pattern, Syllabus etc. 

2) Marks the Important Dates and most importantly, the Dates for submitting the SSC CGL online application form. Also keep note of Exam Dates, so that, you will be aware of the time left for the exam.

It is also advised, that, you submit the application form well before the closing date, as there will be several issue during the last days. The most frequent is website getting overloaded and becomes unresponsive.

Who can apply for SSC CGL 2017 Exam?

If, you are willing to appear in the CGL 2017 Exam, then you should full fill the below mentioned eligibility conditions

1) Nationality : To appear for CGL Exam, you must be an Indian, OR a subject of Nepal Or a subject of Bhutan

2) Age Limit (As on 1st August 2017): SSC CGL offers various posts, and as such these posts carry different Age Limit, but for the most of the posts, age criteria is 18 to 27 years and 20 to 30 years.

At the time of verification, your age as recorded in your Matriculation certificate will be only accepted as Proof of Age.

3) Educational Qualification 
(As on 1st August, 2017): The basic qualification to apply for CGL Exam is only Graduation, but for a few posts you need additional qualification Like If, you want to apply for Statistical Investigator post, you should have Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level

Upper Age Relaxed by 3 years

On 30th Dec, 2016, Department of Personnel Training (DOPT) had released a Notification, giving relaxation is upper age limit for various group B posts having Grade Pay of Rs 4200, Rs 4600 and Rs 4800. 

As per the Notification, the Age limit for CGL 2017 Exam, is relaxed by 3 years. Now, those with upper age less than 30 years, can apply for CGL Exams. Earlier the age limit is 18 to 27 years.

SSC CGL 2017 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The selection process for CGL Exam comprises of Three tier exams (Tier-1, Tier-2 and Tier-3), followed by computer proficiency test / Skill test.

Books for SSC CGL 2017 Exam

1) Tier-1 : All those, who apply for CGL Exam, will have to appear for Tier-1 Exam, which comprises of 100 Objective Questions  (200 Marks) from 4 sections, given below. 

Each Question carries 2 marks and Total time allotted is 75 minutes.

  • General English 25 Questions (50 Marks)
  • General Awareness 25 Questions (50 Marks)
  • Reasoning 25 Questions (50 Marks)
  • Quantitative Aptitude 25 Questions (50 Marks)

Note : There is a penalty of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer.

2) Tier-2 : All those, who qualify the Tier-1 exam, will have to appear in the Tier-2 Exam, which comprises of 4 Papers, having a duration of 2 hours each. Paper-1 and Paper-2 are compulsory for all, Paper-3 and Paper-4 is only for those, who have applied for Statistical Investigator and Assistant Audit Officer in CAG respectively.

  • Paper-1 : Quantitative Abilities (100 Questions / 200 marks)
  • Paper-2 : English Language and Comprehension (200 Questions / 200 Marks)
  • Paper-3 Statistics  (100 Questions / 200 marks)
  • Paper-4 : Finance and Economics (100 Questions / 200 marks)

3) Tier-3: Those, who qualify the Tier-2 Exam, will have to appear for Tier-3 Exam, which is descriptive Paper of 100 marks, that have questions on Essay writing and Letter writing. 
  • Minimum marks required to Qualify the descriptive Paper is only 33%
  • Descriptive Paper is Bilingual. ie you have the option to write the paper in Hindi Or English. However, part of paper written in Hindi and part in English, will not be evaluated

Note: Applicants must note that marks obtained in the Descriptive Paper are to be considered in the preparation of Final Merit. Merely passing the exam, and not getting the good marks, can impact your Final Result.

Final Merit: The Final Merit is obtained by combining the marks obtained in the Tier-1, Tier-2 and Tier-3 taken together. Those, who fall in the Merit will be called for Tier-4 stage

4) Tier-4 comprises of Computer Proficiency test/  Skill test which is of Qualifying nature.

  • Skill test is only for the post of Tax Assistants (In Central Excise and Income Tax Department)
  • Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) is conducted only for Assistant Section Officer in CSS. CPT involves Word Processing, Generation of Slides and Spread Sheet.

SSC CGL 2017 Admit Cards

Admit Cards for CGL 2017 Exam, will be issued once we get to know the firm dates of Tier-1 and Tier-2 Exam

As the CGL Tier-1 exams are scheduled from 1st August 2017 so we can expect SSC Regional websites may start Downloading of Admit cards from 3rd week of July 2017

Moreover, before releasing the Admit cards, SSC will release a detailed notification, regarding the Downloading schedule of Admit cards. So, keep checking this page for real-time updates on Admit cards for CGL Exam.

The most expected Date for release of SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Admit cards is 18th July 2017. Once the Admit cards will be uploaded on the Regional websites, we will share the Direct Links for downloading Admit cards on this page.

To avoid, any difficulty in Downloading of Admit cards, you should keep following things in mind

1) To download Admit Cards, you need your Registration No, So keep your Registration No. safe and available with you

2) Admit Cards, can be downloaded from the Regional SSC Websites and not from the SSC Main Website. So make sure, you log on to the correct SSC website

3) After Downloading the Admit Cards, make sure all the Details are correct. In the case of Discrepancy, contact your Regional SSC Office.

Admit Cards for SSC CGL Tier-2 Exam 2017

Only those candidates, who qualify the CGL Tier-1 Exam, can appear in the Tier-2 Exam and eventually, they will be issued Admit Cards.
As the CGL Tier-2 Exams,  are scheduled from 5th to 8th September 2017, Admit cards can be downloaded from last week of August 2017

How to Apply?

To, apply for CGL 2017 Exam, you need to wait till the announcement of Notification and activation of Online Registration Link.

SSC gives ample time, to apply for CGL Exam. Normally, 30 Days, are given for submitting the online application form. In 2016, the Online application dates were extended twice, so as to facilitate, more and more candidates to apply for CGL Exam and the result is 35 lakh applications were received.

Application form: SSC had both Online and offline forms to apply for CGL Exam. 

Paper application forms can be printed from the Official CGL Notification document Or you can take from the local stationary shop.

Here are some simple steps for submitting the SSC CGL 2017 Online form

1) Open any of these SSC Registration Websites Like OR

2) Part-1 Registration: After that, you can have to proceed for Part of SSC CGL Registration. Herem you have to Fill your Basic Details, Like Name, Parentage, Age, Central, Education Qualifications etc, that you can simply fill by following the On-Screen Instructions.

3) Part-2 Registration: After completing the Part-1 Registration, you will be assigned a Registration No, which is needed for completing the Part-2 of Registration, which includes, Uploading the Photograph and Signature and Payment of Application fees.

It is only after you complete the Payment process, your application will be accepted. 

It is highly advisable, that you should be very careful, while filling the Online form, as Incomplete, Inaccurate and Partially filled form, will be out rightly rejected, and therefore, you won't appear in the CGL Exam.

Apply Online Dates: The Online Registration for CGL 2017 exam, will start from 16th May 2017 and will end on 16th June 2017. However, the closing  dates for Part-1 and Part-2 Registration will be known only after the announcement of CGL 2017 Notification

Application fees: Exam fees is what that make, more and more candidates, apply for CGL Exam. SSC charges, only Rs 100 as application cum examination fees. 

Moreover, Category and female candidates are exempted from paying any application fees.

This low application fee is also a reason somewhere for so many candidates apply for CGL Exam.

But, when it comes to attendance, less than 50% appear for CGL Exam.

For 2016 CGL Tier-1 Exam, the attendance was 36% only.
